Home EV charging for fleets, made simple
Help return-to-home drivers begin each day charged and ready. Paua connects home charging, electricity costs and business mileage so your organisation can reimburse drivers fairly and manage everything in one place.
What is home charging for an electric fleet?
Home charging allows drivers to charge a company electric vehicle at home, usually overnight, so the vehicle is ready for work the following day.
For fleets with return-to-home cars and vans, it can reduce charging costs, minimise driver downtime and reduce dependence on public charging.
The driver normally pays for the electricity through their household energy bill. The business therefore needs a fair and auditable way to identify the electricity used for business driving and reimburse the driver.
Paua Reimburse brings charging data, electricity tariffs, mileage and payment records together, helping businesses manage home charging across an electric fleet.

Home charging makes electric fleets easier to operate
For many fleets, home charging is one of the biggest advantages of moving to electric vehicles.
Drivers can plug in when they finish work and begin the next day with a charged vehicle. Charging happens while the vehicle would otherwise be parked, creating little or no additional downtime.
Convenient for drivers
Drivers charge at home rather than making a separate journey to a public charging location.
Less operational downtime
Cars and vans can charge overnight, helping drivers begin the working day ready to travel.
Lower charging costs
Domestic electricity is often more cost-effective than relying solely on rapid public charging.
Easier to scale
Home charging can complement workplace, depot and public charging as the electric fleet grows.
Transition statement
The charging itself is straightforward. Paying for it properly is the part businesses need to solve.
When a driver pays for business electricity through their personal energy bill, the organisation must decide:
- What electricity should be reimbursed
- What rate should be used
- How business and private mileage will be separated
- What evidence should be retained
- How payments will be approved and processed
Paua Reimburse is designed to manage these questions across different drivers, vehicles, tariffs and home charging arrangements.

The business reviews the claim and processes payment through payroll or the agreed payment route. Paua retains the information supporting the calculation.
One fleet. Different drivers. Flexible reimbursement.
Not every driver has the same vehicle, charger, tariff or pattern of use.
Paua Reimburse supports a range of reimbursement approaches so organisations can choose the right method for each driver group.
Connected charger data
Use recorded charging sessions and the applicable electricity tariff to calculate the cost of energy delivered at home.
Best suited to drivers with compatible connected home chargers.
Vehicle and energy calculations
Calculate energy consumption using vehicle efficiency, business mileage and the driver’s electricity cost.
This can support drivers where direct charger data is not available.
Sustainability Leaders
Apply an agreed mileage-based reimbursement method where this is appropriate for the organisation and driver.
This offers a simpler route, although it may not always reflect the driver’s actual electricity cost.

Home charging should not become another separate fleet system

Drivers do not only charge in one place.
A vehicle may charge at home overnight, at a workplace during the day, at a shared depot between jobs and on the public charging network during longer journeys.
Paua brings these charging locations together within one fleet charging platform.
